GC pioneers of the first hour

Nov 02 2016

Just four years after the drivers of GC technology were awarded the Nobel Prize, Shimadzu developed its first GC system in Japan. That was in 1956, and this year Shimadzu celebrates its 60th GC anniversary. In the last decades, the company has established many technical milestones that are meanwhile standard today. One of the developments, representing this spirit of innovation, is the GC-2010 Plus.

The high-end GC system enables reliable trace analysis with highest peak retention time stability and best area precision. In addition, rapid oven cooling and heating as well as Advanced Flow Technology shorten analysis time tremendously for further significant gains in productivity.

Accessories such as the AOC-6000 in combination with the comprehensive control opportunities of LabSolutions software enable fully automated operation of the GC-2010 plus with highest flexibility. With Robotic Tool Change (RTC) equipment the AOC-6000 performs automatic switching between various injection techniques such as headspace, liquid and Solid Phase Micro Extraction (SPME). In addition, the sampler can carry out autonomous sample preparation procedures such as standard additions or derivatizations in order to reduce the manual workload in routine laboratory environments.

Shimadzu’s product portfolio of accessories and consumables also includes a series of high-quality
GC capillary columns. The wide range of SH-columns offers more than 40 different types of stationary phases in various dimensions. Standard polarities such as 1, 5, WAX or 624 as well as columns for specific applications like PAH, blood alcohol or pesticide analysis always provide a suitable choice for your applications. Customers will benefit from the perfect match of state-of-the-art gas chromatography columns and high-end GC/GC-MS instruments from a single source.

Shimadzu´s GC milestones are on our dedicated and regularly updated website.
