Gas Generators for GC Applications
Apr 28 2009
Peak Scientific Instruments has a mission to provide a safe, convenient and reliable solution for analytical instruments and analysers that require a source of gas for normal operation.
With more than 10 years of experience as a specialist manufacturer of gas generators, Peak Scientific has become a world leader in the field of generator technology for the GC and LC/MS markets, designing, manufacturing & supporting products, which meet and exceed the needs of the analytical instrument industry.
Global Service & Support is provided through an extensive network of field service engineers and technical support specialists from Peak and its authorised distributors in over 70 countries.
Replacing traditional gas supply sources
Most users will be aware of the dangers and inconvenience associated with combustible gas cylinders but nevertheless accept them because they have been used in laboratories for a very long time. Less well known is the fact that Peak Gas Generators offer a more convenient and safer solution, eliminating concerns about the safe handling and storage of gases, safety valves, re- ordering and all the other
administrative processes involved with replenishment.
Gas Generators for GC Applications
As a gas chromatography user, you will be aware that all GC Applications require Carrier Gas, Make-up Gas and Flame Gas for their operation. The choice of gases is usually determined by the application and the detector required.
Safety, as much as cost and availability can also influence the selection of gases, for example high purity Helium can be difficult to obtain in some countries and gas bottles and cylinders can potentially pose Health & Safety Hazards.
Many customers have already made the transition from traditional gas supply sources to generators and are now enjoying the benefits of choosing to operate their GC’s with UHP Nitrogen, Hydrogen and Zero Air generators.
Hydrogen Generators
Peak has introduced a new Series of Hydrogen Generators offering flow rates of 200, 300 and 600cc/min with a purity of 99.9995% and 0-100psi delivery pressure. The Generator Models perform automatic System Checks and Leak Detection at start- up, shutting down the generator if a leak is detected, thus preventing the likelihood of a hazardous situation arising in your laboratory. For convenience, de- ionised
water is loaded automatically into the generator through a water pump contained within the unit.
UHP Nitrogen Generators
Peak’s High Purity Nitrogen Generators utilise highly advanced Carbon Molecular Sieve Technology to extract oxygen and moisture from compressed air, providing 99.9995% pure Nitrogen (purity figure based on Oxygen content) and depending on generator model - flow rates are available between 250 and 4,000cc/min at a pressure of up to 80 psi. Ultra High Purity Nitrogen Generators are also available from
Peak Scientific with internal air supply, offering a self contained solution to supply Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas to multiple GCs.
Zero Air Generators
Peak Zero Air Generators help to improve baseline stability whilst reducing the frequency of re-calibration achieved by a low and constant hydrocarbon content of Zero Air. A range of models is available with flow rates up to 30l/min and some models are also
available with built in air-compressors.
Maintenance of all Peak gas generators is minimal and straight forward and can be carried out by Peak engineers or our trained
and authorised distributors. Maintenance plans are also available, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of gas as well as optimum performance and reliability which we know are vital in today’s busy laboratory environment.
With a Peak Gas Generator you can be sure of using a product manufactured and maintained to the highest standards, using only the highest quality components.
Trusted Technology- Redefined
Reliability is the key word for any decision maker when purchasing a Hydrogen Generator for their laboratory. Peak Scientific is proud to be recognised as the manufacturer of the most reliable Hydrogen Generators by their valued customers and partners.
Trusted technology that has been proven to be successful in our current CFH Range of Hydrogen Generators has been incorporated into the design of our new Peak Hydrogen Generators. The combination of established and new features, further enhance the reliability, safety and convenience while the small footprint saves valuable space in the laboratory.
Safety Features such as a Self- Check for internal leaks on Power- Up, Dual Safety in the form of pressure control and a mechanical
pressure switch as well as forced air ventilation eradicate the risk of Hydrogen escaping into atmosphere. The Hydrogen Generators also benefit of an automatic water loading pump, which loads water automatically from an external tank, allowing for easier and less frequent re-fills of de- ionised water.
Routine maintenance is minimal and easy to carry out through improved access to the internal water tank as well as the silica gel column.
Peak Scientific is confident that this new range of hydrogen generators will provide a safe and cost effective alternative to cylinder gas, whilst proven technology ensures the reliability and performance of the system.
