Fully Automated Determination of Halogens and Sulphur in Solid, Liquid, and Gaseous Samples
Mar 09 2022
Metrohm presents a new system for Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC). This solution combines a combustion module from Trace Elemental Instruments (TEI) and an absorption module and IC system from Metrohm. CIC is the preferred solution for the simultaneous determination of halogens and sulphur in widely differing matrices. With CIC, unlike with competing methods, the concentrations of the different halogens can be determined separately. Moreover, digestion by pyrolysis is superior to offline digestion methods with regard to sample throughput and precision and correctness of results.
CIC is ideal for routine analysis in a variety of fields, as neither sample preparation nor complicated method development are required. CIC is recommended for quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished products, and is also suitable for straightforward monitoring of compliance with the relevant laws and standards in the environmental field (e.g. DIN EN 228, IEC 60502-1, RoHS, WEEE, ...). Thus, CIC enables the determination of halogens and sulphur in all kinds of fuels, lubricants, additives and other petroleum products, as well as in polymers, flame retardants, textiles, special chemicals, catalysts, LPG, gases, and different types of waste.
The new CIC system consists of a Combustion Module from TEI and an absorption and IC part from Metrohm. Depending on the kind and consistency of the sample matrix, different sampling modules for fully automated sample introduction into the combustion unit are available.
