Simultaneous Determination of Halogens and Sulphur in Complex Matrices by Combustion Ion Chromatography
Apr 15 2014
Combustion ion chromatography (CIC) enables straightforward, simultaneous determination of halogens and sulphur in complex solid and liquid matrices. CIC is ideal for routine analysis, as it integrates sample digestion by pyrolysis and subsequent analysis by ion chromatography in a single, fully automated system. There is no need for complicated method development, and sample throughput is higher than with competing methods. Whereas competing methods can only provide results for the total amount of halogens in the sample, CIC provides discrete results for each of the different halogens.
CIC is recommended for the determination of halogens and sulphur in fuels, lubricants, additives, polymers, flame retardants, textiles, special chemicals, catalysts, and all kinds of waste.
Recent applications developed by Metrohm are: AN-CIC-001 Halogens in high-viscosity oils by means of Combustion IC; AN-CIC-002 Halogens and sulphur in residual solvents by means of Combustion IC; AN-CIC-003 Chlorine, bromine and sulphur in low-density polyethylene (ERM®-EC680k) by means of Combustion IC; AN-CIC-004 Entire and leachable concentration of halogens and sulphur in latex gloves by means of Combustion Ion Chromatography and a leaching test; AN-CIC-005 Iodine in a pharmaceutical product by means of Combustion Ion Chromatography with Inline Matrix Elimination; AN-CIC-006 Recovery rates for chloride, bromide and sulphate in certified reference materials by means of Combustion Ion Chromatography; AN-CIC-007 Analysis of a mixed liquid standard by means of Combustion IC; AN-CIC-008 Fluorine in polyisobutene by means of Combustion IC; AN-CIC-009 Chloride and sulphur in cyclohexane by means of Combustion IC; AN-CIC-010 Halogens in a polymer sample by means of Combustion IC pursuant to RoHS; AN-CIC-011 Analysis of an ion exchanger by means of Metrohm Combustion IC; AN-CIC-012 Halogens and sulphur in clay using Combustion IC; AN-CIC-013 Analysis of certified liquefied gas using Combustion IC; AN-CIC-014 Chloride traces in the wax fraction of raw oil distillation using Combustion IC.
