Do the Maths and Save: Why Lower Running Costs make Metrohm IC the More Economical Choice
Dec 06 2011
The price tag will certainly have a critical influence on your decision which instrument you buy to boost your lab’s capacities. However, when it comes to ion chromatography, think twice. There may be cheaper options around than
Metrohm. If you take into account running costs and think in terms of three, five or even more years of operation, Metrohm ion chromatographs are the more economical choice. And these are the reasons why: The suppressor is a substantial part in anion chromatography. While other brands consider it a consumable that needs to be replaced regularly, only Metrohm gives you a 10-year suppressor warranty. Fact is that you will spend thousands on new suppressors during the lifetime of the competitor’s instruments, while with Metrohm you buy the suppressor once with
your new IC and never have to replace it.
More on the same topic: other brands require the regular purchase of consumables such as syringe filters and sample preparation cartridges to analyse real samples. Metrohm does not. The reason is Metrohm Inline Sample Preparation (MISP). MISP stands for a range of sophisticated (and patented) techniques enabling automated inline sample preparation and liquid handling that require hardly any consumables at all. And if you think in really long terms, there is another point in favour of Metrohm ion chromatography, i.e. spare parts. Spare parts can be hard to get, especially if you have owned an instrument for a longer time. With Metrohm, you can rely on a 10-year spare part warranty, even after a model is discontinued! This means that you don’t have to worry about budgeting for a new IC system for at least 10 years when you buy a Metrohm IC.
