New Papers For Phosphopeptide Scientists

Dec 03 2010

Glygen Corporation announce the availability of a large number of downloadable papers from their new enhanced website, which details the wide use their products have been utilised in. Glygen the world leader in micro-sample phosphopeptide purification tools and kits, with recent NIH research (Gates, et al, ‘Comparison of Metal and Metal Oxide Media for Phosphopeptide Enrichment Prior to Mass Spectrometric Analyses’, JASMS June 2010) indicating that, under the experimental conditions used, TiO2 NuTips resulted in the reproducible observation of a greater number of unique sites of phosphorylation with the least amount of nonspecific binding…dramatically improving detection and sequencing of phosphopeptides.

Additionally, recent literature suggests that Glygen’s DNA Purification TopTip technology is a method of choice for DNA/PCR purification, with superior recovery and efficiency (Manduzio, et al, ‘Comparison of Approaches for Purifying and Desalting Polymerase Chain Reaction Products Prior to Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry’, Analytical Biochemistry March 15, 2010).

NuTip is Glygen’s revolutionary patented SPE cartridge in which chromatography material is embedded in the inner surface of a pipette tip. The sample is drawn into and out of the NuTip (using a micropipette or automation system), and the targeted molecule binds the complementary media for later elution. NuTip’s unique design maximises surface area in contact with the sample, and improves reproducibility due to lack of non-specific binding and backpressure.

TopTip, Glygen’s patented micro-spin column, is a uniquely modified tip that contains loose chromatography material and a 1-2 μm slit at the bottom. The sample is top-loaded into the TopTip, and is drawn through the chromatography material by spinning in a centrifuge; the fine slit permits liquid to pass through but retains chromatographic material.
