New Micro-Pump Provides Stability for Low Flow Applications

Jan 14 2021

GL Sciences is happy to announce FLOM has joined the GL Sciences Group. FLOM, founded in 1990, is a specialist in producing pumps, valves and degassers. Development, assembly and quality control are all managed from their factory in Japan, making it a perfect addition to the Japanese GL Sciences group.

FLOM is proudly presenting the newest edition to their range of pumps, the Micro-Pump MP-22. The MP-22 has a flow rate range of 0.1-999.9 µL/min. The maximum pressure is 35 MPa. By focussing on each single component of the pump, this new pump combines all FLOM strengths in a single product.

The pump has a compact design and comes as a stand-alone version with simple controls and a small display. An RS232C port is available for external control. FLOM is happy to assist in implementing the design in existing systems or systems under development.

Instead it using Check Valves the pump uses a Switching Valve. This results in extremely stable low flow rates.

The MP-22 is fitted with the Linear Drive instead of a Cam Drive. With the Linear Drive, both pumps are controlled separately. The strokes are longer, which results in more powerful suction and discharge actions.

FLOM believes that with introducing this pump, it is offering a solution for applications requiring a stable low flow.

But, FLOM is not just the supplier of these high quality pumps. For less critical applications, they are the producer of the cam-driven Dual Plunger pumps (KP Series) and Single Plunger pumps (SP Series). Using a separate Pulse Damper, even the cam-driven plunger pumps show little pulsation during pumping. The release of a brand new Single Plunger pump, the SP-3x series, is scheduled later this year. This emphasizes the philosophy of FLOM to continue to improve their existing product line-up even while they are already state of the art.

For waste- and solvent control, FLOM also produces the SR-13. A sonic reservoir sensor. Using this sensor, the liquid level in your solvent bottle is checked. Once you run out of solvent, an alarm can be both seen and heard on a display. Using the RS232 port, your application can be shut down when it ran out of solvent.

All-in-all, FLOM does contribute in high quality flow control. Their product portfolio is not limited to chromatography applications. They are an outstanding choice for your flow chemistry projects!
